The Regatta

On Wednesday, we went to watch the waka races. Every year, lots of schools in Ngaruawahia send teams of students to the Waikato River by the Turangawaewae Marae, to compete in waka races.

The water sparkled like diamonds. We stood at the top of a steep bank and looked down over a carpet of purple-flowered green plants.

A speeding boat left a wake of water behind it as it sped to the red buoys - the starting point of the races. The water rippled out towards the tree-lined banks and softly touched the shores.

the fish kid

 fish kid was playing inside he broke  the window and it sounded like an explosion. mum woke with a big fright and she called the police. the police  came and kick the door down because mum was too scared to open the door the police found a kid and said Did you see a robber the kid said no to the police said all clear so mum came to the downstairs and looked out the broken window and saw a Frisbee. the fish  kid was grounded❗ for a year and no a electronics.

The Star Fishes

Once there were seven little fishes that lived in the sea. They liked to play tag.
One sunny Sunday their mum told them to  not go in the deep sea because the giant would capture them in his giant net. 
On that day the rainbow coloured fish played tag and got lost. The giant's net flew over them then they were caught. 
Tane stole the net and threw the fsh in the air. 
The fish turned into stars and that's how Matariki began.

James and Laura are brother and sister. They like going on adventures, like going in the forest and discovering new stuff at their school.

The Loose Snake

WALT make up a story about a Pet Day problem.

WWBSWW:

• Begin with an orientation to tell the reader who, did what, where and when.

“Pet Day will be on Friday,” Miss Anderson, Tom’s teacher, announced to the class on Monday. “Bring your pet to school and tell us about it, then we will have a pet parade.”

Tom was so excited. He would be able to bring Harry to school to 

show everyone.

• Write the events leading up to the problem.

At the end of the day, he ran all the way home to get his pet ready for Friday.

He loved Harry and had wanted to show his friends for a long time, but his mum and dad had told him that Harry must never leave the house; but, now, his

teacher had given him permission to bring it to school.

Smilingly, he polished Harry’s green silky skin, talking to it with his friendly voice. “You’re allowed to come to school, Harry. You can meet my friends and my friends can meet you.”

As soon as Friday came around, Harry carefully took Harry out of its cage and placed him into his black backpack. He couldn’t wait to get to school, so he ran

all the way.

When the bell rang, he and the rest of the class stepped into the 

classroom.

• Write the problem.

Tom opened his backpack to show his friends what he had brought to school for Pet Day.

“It’s a green, slippery, slimey …...................” he said slowly. “Snake!” he 

shouted.

“Tom Denver, give me that thing right now!” Miss Anderson 

commanded.

Tom opened his hand to pass it over, but, at that moment, naughty Billy Burton lunged to grab it himself. He bumped Tom’s shoulder and Tom hurtled forward, the snake flying out of his hand to the back of the classroom.

“Eee! Where is it?” squealed Miss Anderson.

Chaos threatened in Room 4.  Children jumped up and ran around, screeching

their lungs out and pushing over chairs and desks, trying to find Tom’s snake.

• Write the events to tell your readers how the problem was solved.

Tom had an idea. He got some glue and the teacher's lunch He glued the front door and put the sandwich into the middle of a piece of paper, then the snake slithered to the front door. It got stuck in the glue.
Tom tippy-toed to the snake quietly. He wasn't scared. He picked up the snake by the tail and put it back into his backpack.

Well done, Caleb. You made up some events leading to the solution.

At  Pentecost the followers came out of the room they were hiding in and began to spread the good news. The Holy Spirit came to the followers of Jesus in the form of fire and wind. This day is called Pentecost.
